Thanks to the generosity of McDonald’s and The Century Council, participants from the three Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academies and partner organization, Girl Talk, were invited to create and implement community service leadership projects during 2011 and enter their projects online on the Choose to Matter Contest website. Starting Feb 1st until Feb 21st, America voted on their favorite leadership projects to send four young women to experience an opportunity of a lifetime—an all-expense paid trip to the London 2012 Olympic Games to join Julie Foudy and McDonald’s as Youth Ambassadors for McDonald’s Champions of Play program.

As Youth Ambassadors for the McDonald's "Champions of Play" Program, Contest Grand Prize Winners Will Enjoy the Olympics Up Close and Personal by:
Attending Olympic events and meeting Olympic athletes
    Exploring Olympic venues
Meeting kids from around the world
    Seeing the sights of London

Second and third place winners (in each of the four categories) will receive a $500 and $250 sports apparel shopping spree, respectively.

There will be four winners total. One winner (plus a parent/guardian) from each JFSLA location (New Jersey, Illinois, California) and one winner (plus a parent/guardian) from Girl Talk will be selected. The contest is not open to the public.

A Message from Julie

Being athletic and living a healthy lifestyle gives girls the confidence to become leaders in their schools and in their communities. I’ve seen this first-hand in those who have come through our Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy and have gone on to impact their communities. One girl can make a positive difference! Just take a look at all of the amazing and positive things that these young women have done.

Congratulations to all entrants, and to our prize winners, for Choosing to Matter!

Julie Foudy
