Who is Eligible to Apply

The 2012 Choose to Matter Contest is open to:

  3. Any girl affiliated with our partner non-profit organization, Girl Talk. Girl Talk projects will be entered into the "Girl Talk" Category, and one Grand Prize Winner will be selected.

  • All projects must be entered between December 15, 2012 – January 15, 2013 here on the Choose to Matter contest website.
  • America will vote for their favorite project from Feb 8 - Feb 15, 2013.

JFSLA students/alumni, mother/daughter pairs, and Girl Talk girls are developing and implementing community service leadership projects based on the causes they are passionate about. Once the girls have completed their projects they will post them here, starting on December 15, 2012.  Last day to post projects is January 15, 2013. Projects will be organized into five categories: JFSLA entries will be organized by the three academy locations, Mother/Daughter projects will be organized under The Century Council Mother/Daughter Category, and Girl Talk entries will be put into one Girl Talk category.

America will vote for finalists in each category, with one vote per person, per category.  Voting takes place on this website Feb. 8-15, 2013.

Panel of judges will determine the grand prize-5th place winners in each category, mid-February, 2013

Grand Prize winners and other award winners will be announced the end of February, 2013.

A Message from Julie

Being athletic and living a healthy lifestyle gives girls the confidence to become leaders in their schools and in their communities. I’ve seen this first-hand in those who have come through our sports leadership academy and have gone on to impact their communities. One girl can make a positive difference - so keep up the great work on the leadership projects. I am proud of you for taking the initiative to create a positive change.
