Cleats for Kids
Amanda Christianson

How would you describe your "Choose To Matter" project?
I wanted to help the people in Haiti because I knew that not many people had a pair of shoes. I wanted to change that, so I started my project, Cleats for Kids. I collect used cleats and sneakers and ship them to the kids in Haiti that have no shoes!
What is your project goal?
My original goal was to collect and distribute 300 pairs of cleats and sneakers. In just under a years time, I had reached my goal and was so proud. So I decided to keep on going, and now I have collected and distibuted over 500 pairs of cleats and sneakers and I couldn't be more excited!
What were you able to accomplish with this project?
I have accomplished so much with this project, not only for the people in Haiti, but also for myself. I have realised that one person can make a difference, and that with my help, over 500 kids in Haiti will now have shoes on their feet!
How did “choosing to matter” affect you?
Choosing to matter has opened my eyes to the world. People are living in poverty and I had never helped. This project made me discover that yes, one person can make a difference. One person can start a chain reaction, and one person can change the world. I am now one of these people and im so greatful that I had the opportunity to create this project. This project changed me for the better.
